MESSAGE: PALIAMENT OF THE WORLD’S RELIGIONS 

澳洲的其中一個優點是：祂是堅強而鞏固的，具有凝聚力的，包融多種文化和宗教靈性傳統的社會。我們為我們豐富的（靈性的）世襲和民主傳統而驕傲。 

One of Australia’s great strengths is its robust and cohesive society which embraces a wide range of cultural and religious traditions. We are proud of our rich heritage and democratic traditions. 

《澳洲憲法》最初的制定者，卓越地預視祂們理想居住的澳洲的未來時空，《澳洲憲法》決定沒有一個宗教靈性信仰應該比其祂［宗教靈性信仰］更為優越的，宗教和國家應該是分治的。他們在《澳洲憲法》中寫“共和國不應為創立任何宗教，或迫使遵遁任何宗教信仰，或禁止任何宗教的自由活動，而制定任何法律。” 

When the writers of Australia’s Constitution envisioned the sort of Australia that they would like to live in, they decided that no one religious belief should have precedence over another, that religion and state should be separate. They wrote into the Constitution that “the Commonwealth shall not make any law for establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion”. 

今天這個決定是澳洲人民所保持和發展的靈性傳統文化和宗教靈性信仰，而這是由公民支持與虔誠尊敬而實現的。《世界宗教國會》的目的是為了圓滿這些澳洲人文化的多樣性、包容性和共同努力的觀念。 

Today this decision is realised in Australians’ support and respect for the rights of citizens to maintain and develop their cultural and religious beliefs. The aims of the Parliament of the World’s Religions complement these Australian ideals of diversity, inclusion and mutual action. 

澳洲政府光榮地支持墨爾本市主持《世界宗教國會》這個項目。我希望每一位與會者都來到墨爾本，都認識到每一個宗教靈性傳統的獨特和珍貴的個性、為學習和真誠的對話而相互開放和培育和諧的熱切期盼。 

The Australian Government proudly supports Melbourne in hosting this event. I hope that every participant will come to Melbourne recognising the unique and precious character of each religion, open to learning and genuine dialogue, and with a strong desire to cultivate harmony.
