Well I think it's very significant because it is really a statement about what sort of community we are. And I think what we did back in the late 90s and it wasn't just my government, it was governments prior to ours, but the whole process of reconciliation really said about Tasmanians that we want to be an inclusive community, one that recognises our history and that we are prepared as a modern society to not only work better at living together, but to actually advance that to the stage where we can be seen as a world leader.
It's made us a very much more cohesive community. It's made us one where everybody in Tasmania really does feel they can contribute. And I think it's hard sometimes to remember back to the 80s and 90s, but in Tasmania in those times there were many groups in our community who were marginalised, who were prevented from playing their role to the full. And I think it is a great achievement for our community to be able to say now in 2020 that no one is excluded, that everyone gets the right to have a say and to be treated as a worthy part of our community.
