Chinese community raise the red lantern for luck in final Lunar New Year celebrations in Hobart

市政厅挂满了超过1000盏灯笼,这是今年塔斯牟尼亚州中国商业协会和塔斯牟尼亚州中国艺术与传播社会之间合作的最后一曲。
City Hall has been decked out with more than 1000 lanterns in a collaboration between the Tasmanian Chinese Business Association and the Tasmanian Chinese Art and Communication Society for this year’s swan song.
今晚在市政厅将会举行一个免费的公众活动,有中国传统食品,以及与羊年配合的剪羊毛的展示 。
A free public event will be held at the hall tonight with traditional Chinese food and sheep shearing displays to coincide with the year of the ram.
本次活动还将舞狮、功夫表演、甚至中国的摇滚乐队“Xiang翔”电台。
The event will also feature lion dancing, kung fu displays and even Chinese rock band Xiang Radio.
TCBA(塔斯牟尼亚州中国商业协会)代表Jason许说,此家庭活动是结束皞峇灯的农历新年庆祝活动的完美方式。
TCBA representative Jason Xu says the family event is the perfect way to end Hobart’s Lunar New Year celebrations.
“(在中国)的中国元宵节传统是让人们团聚,一家人聚首一堂。”徐先生说。 “我们鼓励每个家庭把孩子带来,一起庆祝。”
红色对中国文化来说是重要的,代表人们的梦想和希望,而灯笼,当点亮时,(为人们)带来好运。
While red is significant in Chinese culture, representing the dreams and wishes of the people, the lanterns, when lit, bring good luck.
